Is this dress too formal for outdoor venue

Hello,

I am just starting to plan my wedding and love the look of this dress http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?style=14523&page=0&pageSize=108&keywordText=&keywordType=All

I'm just worried that this dress will look out of place at the venue we have chosen. We live in Southern California so we are doing an outdoor ceremony and reception during March of next year. The venue is a very nice secluded garden type setting www.edengardensweddings.com

Anyones advice is greatly appreciated.

  • Personally, I think it would look fine. To me, the bottom is different enough that it's not super formal and has an element of fun. I could say that I would wear that dress in that venue

I completely agree! I think it will look quite beautiful!
  • I think it would look wonderful in an outdoor setting, especially in the spring. I love the bottom, and maybe you could have the sash match the outdoors a bit, like having a green sash (it depends on your wedding colours, or course).

  • It's lovely and I think it would be fine outdoors; especially in spring as PP mentioned.
  • Ha ha I'm actually wearing my Maggie dress outdoors for a beach wedding! I'm biased but I think you'll be fine ;)
  • Formal dresses are absolutely fine as long as the venue is decorated and set up in a formal manner as well.

My dress was a formal ballgown dress, and we had a secluded garden wedding.  The pictures came out GORGEOUS.

  • Will you be dragging the skirt through dirt?  If no, then the dress is fine.  I cannot tell if you have a train or not.
  • Thanks everyone the feedback helps.thankfully I wont be dragging it in the dirt because its all grass and pavers.
