Non traditional dresses?

I want a fun wedding dress that isn't exactly a "wedding dress." I've looked at J Crew, Nordstroms, etc. I was wondering if you had any other ideas that I hadn't heard of or checked out yet!

Have any of you used a non-traditional dress?

  • You'll have to elaborate on "Non traditional"
  • You could really look any where. Have you tried looking at bridesmaids dresses or even at having someone make your dress. I've also seen a lot of girls choosing wedding gowns that have color in them or are tea length. They are non-traditional while still looking like a wedding dress.

  • I've seen a lot of ladies go for vintage or vintage-inspired attire these days, especially in the form of tea-length gowns of different colors.

You might also look at evening gowns. Bluefly.com has a great selection if you haven't already looked there yet. They have tons of colors, so whether you want to stick with a white, champagne, or silver that looks bridal or go for something wild, they've got plenty of dresses for inspiration.
  • mgietler76 I guess just a dress that wasn't specifically made for a bride to wear. I was wondering if anyone had any different ideas for where to look for beautiful gowns that aren't super expensive.

Bluefly? Hmmm that sounds like a good option, I will look!

  • I found my dream dress on ebay (very cheep), it was a little wrinkled when it got here but thats my only complaint because it fit like a glove.
My familly calls it very "untraditional" because the hole dress it silver.
My colors were black, burgundy and silver and when I saw that dress that it was it.
Differant and a lil over the top it goes with the style of our wedding. I cannot see the reaction on my FI face.
Dresses with pops of color are nice to.
    Good luck!
