Keep in mind that I have not had ANY alterations done yet...it is waaaay too big (it was a really good deal for "off the rack" and I have an amazing seamstress who will certainly be able to fix it for me!)  also, you can't see the bottom of the dress...it's just flowy with a tiny train at the back.

but....what do you think of my dress?  I don't think my Mom likes it, but I really do!!

I think it looks gorgeous on you.  As long as you love your dress that is all that matters.  There will always be people out there that will dislike it but the only person you really need to please is yourself...and your FI but they should think you look beautiful even if you are in a paper sack!

It's beautiful and you should definitely keep it. We love our mothers but we have to go with our guts and pick what we love at the end of the day.

Maggie -  you are so right, there will always be people who will dislike it, but we all have different tastes in fashion and I feel beautiful in this dress...plus, when it comes down to it, even if everyone hates the dress ...I will still be married to my best friend in the end!

My mother would like that dress, it looks very similar to the ones she kept marking in the catalogue for me! It is far prettier on you than it would have been on me, though. I'm glad that you found the dress for you!

So beautiful! And my mom wasn't a fan of my dress at first, but on my wedding day she said I absolutely made the right choice, and it was perfect on me. I think the alterations made a huge difference.

Its absolutely beautiful, elegant and feminine.

I used to work in a bridal store and saw many many dresses. I therefore I often fit dresses on as I had free reign and never needed to make appointments. As a result my ladies or mom never accompanied me. Upon meeting my dress there was only a vague spark-until I tried it on! Love at first fit! My mother doesnt like it though, Im relieved to know that Im not the only one experiencing this! But Im glad I fit and made a choice without being influenced by others opinions.

Thank you!  Actually, this dress isn't a designer gown...It just says somethign like "studio 17" on the tag, I think.  I found it in a very small bridal boutique in Montreal (canada) where I live and I only paid $299!!!
One of my bridesmaids was with me and pulled this one of the rack and right away, I wasn't sure at all but I said "well, I'll try it on at least" and then I just couldn't stop smiling once I looked in the mirror.  I love how comfortable and soft it is and I love its simplicity AND PRICE haha...
The funny thing is that my dress budget was maximum $600 and everytime I went into a bridal shop the salesperson would kind of look at me as if to say "you're not going to find a dress at that price!"...but joke's on them because I only spent half of my budget! haha
