In a search to find a bridesmaid dress that was not from a bridesmaid dress brand, I found a Silk Tahari dress in a gorgeous Saphire Blue. The dress is only $50 on overstock.com, the only problem is that the smallest size I can get is a 4. The sizing should work for all of my bridesmaids except one who is tiny. She normally wears a size 0.
My mom and I have tried taking the dress to a tailor to ask if it is possible to alter it 4 sizes down, and they end up saying my petite friend (who lives four states away) needs to come in.
Does anyone have experience trying to have a tailor make drastic size changes to cocktail dresses? Particularly on silk dresses? To me, it seems like it would just be bringing the dress in down both sides, but I am just no expert!
