Just some friendly advice requested, BM related

http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Strapless-Satin-Dress-with-High-Low-Hem-F14197 I need to find shoes for my BMs and I have no idea where to start, so I am just looking for ideas to start... I have added a link to my bridesmaid's dresses so you can get an idea of what it looks like. (Cocoa colored) The theme of the wedding is Victorian (although, obviously, the dresses are not...) One bridesmaid is in a wheelchair, but she can walk short distances (Like the aisle and to dance with her fiance). For this reason I prefer low heels, if heels at all. As their shoes would be visible I hesitate to let them just wear their own and not match, as I originally was going to have them do. Advice would be appreciated. :D

Why don't you specify a color and let them wear their own? I don't think it looks bad when BMs are wearing different shoes, even with short dresses. It makes it easier and problem solved :). FWIW, my BM dresses are short and I asked them to wear any nude shoe- so they will most likely have different styles.

Also, if you are choosing a specific shoe, you should be footing the bill for them.

  • Ditto just picking a color and letting your girls choose their own shoes.

  • Nobody will be looking at your bridesmaids shoes, even if they are "visible."

I think a gold shoe would look amazing with a brown dress.   I would recommend letting your bridesmaids pick their own shoe in whatever color you pick -- that way they can pick something that they like and will wear again, but it would still look cohesive.

  • Picking a neutral color is best for a few reasons - not the least of which is if you pick the shoe you need to buy them.  If you must have them that matchy-matchy, I'd suggest letting the BM with mobility issues choose the shoe (you'd still need to buy them).
  • It may be an option to let them pick and have matching colors, but I'd appreciate color ideas. :D I would do Cocoa with cocoa and it's so boring....

I am not into fashion at all. Haha... I am just glad I get to stick to an ivory theme for myself and black for my honey.

I am thinking I could like the gold, thank you Avion22. :D

  • I think I agree with PPs. I would choose a color and let them pick their own. If you wanted a certain fabric you could pick that too like a satin cocoa shoe or a satin copper. I might be hesitant to someone wearing a patent leather show with your BM dress.

  • Go with a simple nude color as different styles will simply blend in with their legs/feet and not stand out. If that's something you are worried about. Otherwise, maybe a soft blush or burgandy for a fall wedding.

  • I am letting my BM's buy thier own shoes. They are going to wear cream colored dresses with a red ribbon. I advised them to bring the red ribbon with them shoe shopping to try and best match the color. This way, my very short sister can wear heals, and my friend with knee issues can wear flat shoes! Then they have a little "personalization" too.

  • I think metallics - gold or bronze could look nice with cocoa coloured dresses.  Or cream/ivory?

Do you have another wedding colour that you could use to tie the overall decor together?

  • I'd have them all pick out whatever nude colored shoes they wanted!

  • I think nude would look best.

  • Another vote for nude.  If they have to buy shoes, at least nude is a colour that they can all wear again.  I wear my nude shoes all the time.  Nude is way more modern than metallic.  There are few metallic shoes I will wear.  It has to be a hot shoe, but the silver and gold strappy prom looking shoes just would sit in my closet collecting dust forever.

  • I would recommend white/ivory/nude shoes, and definitely avoid an ankle strap with the high/low hem.  My BMs are wearing knee-length dresses and I'm letting them pick their own shoes as long as they are black.  I think it will be much prettier if everyone is comfortable and able to walk, then if they all have matching shoes.

If you really want them to all wear the same style, I would recommend low-heeled pumps or flats.

  • i vote gold, i was a bm and we wore esspresso dresses muted gold strappy shoes and it great!
  • I would have go to a local store and choose a white silk shoe and have them all dyed the same color.  There is a store in my town that does this and they have 100s of shoes to choose from.  I am good friends with a few girls who work there! You can order from them online also! rosetreeboutique.com is the website!
