Help with BM & GM attire

I am having a hard time finding bridesmaid dresses and groomsmen tuxes to match my Maggie Sottero Karina Royale gown. The one I purchased is pink pearl with ivory lace. The sash is brown, but I am having it replaced with an ivory one. (The picture on the website is the gold & ivory).

I really like the Mango Tango color from B2 (Jasmine).  I think it will go great with the gown. I have held them together and they look fine. Here are my top BM dress ideas:

If I go with one of these gowns from B2, do you know of any tux rental places that match the same colors? I don't want to use multiple colors of clashing orange! Also, since my dress is partly ivory, should the groom wear an ivory shirt/vest/tie or a white shirt? Has anyone run into this problem??? Thanks for the help and suggestions!

Re: Help with BM & GM attire

  • I don't know of any one that would have matching vest/tie colors for the dresses. I would suggest getting a fabric swatch and taking it with you to tux shops to compare and help with choices.

Whatever you do DO NOT have the groom wear an ivory shirt. In my opinion they look really dirty and much more yellow than ivory. I actually wore an ivory gown and DH wore a white shirt and no one noticed any color difference.

  • Our GM wore black tuxes with silver shirts, vests and ties. My H wore a black tux with an off white shirt, vest and tie. Our Dad's wore all black tuxes. My BM's wore 2 different colors of dresses and it looked awesome in pics.

I agree with waltzingmatilda abou not putting any of the guys in ivory. We were told the same thing at the tux shop.
  • My gown was ivory; not only did DH wear a white shirt, but the GM wore white tuxes.  Looked fine.  I think that DB and AA are the only ones that have tux places that do color matching, but you can either get a fabric swatch and try to get close, or just go with neutrals on the guys.

I would also recommend having all of your girls try on that color before you commit.  There are very few people in this world who can wear orange and look good, lord knows I'm not one of them.  Remember that their dresses don't really have to "match" yours in any way.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • Getting a swatch is going to be your best bet for matching the groomen and bridesmaids; I'm using Dessy Group for the few matchy-items I need.

You're dress is gorgeous! For the bridesmaids, I like the middle one best--anything with a little more traditional/vintage feel with compliment your dress beautifully.

Lela Rose has some great dresses with the belt-detail you have in your choices.
