Bridesmaid Dresses in two DIFFERENT colors?

I've been seeing this in some of the magazines and I'm kind of digging it...

I have 6 bridesmaids, and I am thinking it might look neat to have 3 of them in one color and three in another color. I'm letting them all pick their own silohette and neckline (so long as the length is cocktail length) so I just think it might be neat to see them all not only in different styles, but also in two color groupings.

Colors I'm leaning toward right now are aubergine & sugar plum (After Six is the designer that has these colors).

I've always liked shades of pink and purple together in flower arrangements, so this is like a "people arrangement" (hehe).

Anyone else thinking of doing this?

Re: Bridesmaid Dresses in two DIFFERENT colors?

  • My cousin did this.  The 2 BM were in the same style and color dress, and then the MOH and FG had another style and color.  The styles were actually quite simular.  The dress only came in the color that the BM wore but my cousin wanted another color so  her mom made the MOH and FG dresses.  As well as her MOB dress and her granddaughter's dress.

  • I'm doing it! 4 are wearing canary yellow & 4 are wearing riveria blue!
  • My BM's got theirs at JCrew- 3 are in bright hydrangea (a periwinkle blue) and 2 in caspian (deeper almost navy) blue.

    Love mixing it up!
  • I went to a wedding where her color was 'spring.' Each girl wore a different color of the same dress (she lucked out and it fit them all well!) It was an interesting idea and definitely was a lot more interesting than 10 girls in identical dresses would have been. Another option would being putting your MOH in one color and the rest of the girls in another.
