Tuxedo Vests

So, I am getting married in 10 days and I realized that I really do not like the tuxedo vests and ties we got! We got bright orange and after looking at pictures online I think I like darker colors better!!! I need advice! Can you wear a tux without a vest? I will go buy black ties for all the guys!

Help!

Re: Tuxedo Vests

  • Is there any way you can switch them out? Is it the color of them you don't like?

I suppose they could wear them without the vests, but I am having a hard time picturing if it would look ok. I think I would try to get them switched out even if you have to pay more to do so. I think people are going to be able to tell it is a tux and not a suit and a tux is always worn with a vest that I know of.
  • I agree with Missy.  I would personally keep the vest since you have tuxes.  Go with your first instinct and keep the brighter orange!  I've noticed when I haven't, I've regretted it.  Do you have a picture?

I love the brighter colors, especially for the summer.  I'm getting married in 10 days also.  The girls have navy blue dresses.  Since they were dark, I have the guys wearing bight lime green vests and ties...to brighten it up - it's the summer!

  • Call the tux shop and ask if you can switch the colors. If not, try to remember that sometimes how a color looks in a picture depends a lot on lighting. Maybe the lighting just wasn't right, in the pictures you saw? Are you doing outside photos? The color might look different. I would probably not have the guys wear tuxes without vests. I know there are places that sell tux vests, so that might be an option. Tux shops do this, as well as suit stores and department stores, I believe. Or call David's Bridal and find out who they partner with (I think it's Men's Wearhouse) and see if you can get a tux through them.
