Wearing Old Shoes

Hi,

I am not a shoe girl and hate shoe shopping...I have a pair of sparkly high-heel silver shoes that I absolutely love and want to use for my wedding day with my ivory dress.  They are about 2 years old and I have only worn them twice.  They are in good shape; only if you really inspect them would you see some imperfections from being worn.  Has anyone worn their favorite shoes instead of buying new ones?  Do you think it's a bad idea? My friend suggested I find ivory ones instead.  I doubt anyone will notice; I just can't find any new shoes that I like more than my silver ones...Thanks for the advice!

Re: Wearing Old Shoes

  • Why spend the money when you have a perfectly good pair of shoes you want to wear?  Unless your ones of those people that want the dress lifted up shoe shot, having a few scuffs on your shoe will not be noticeable.
  • You'll be a lot more comfortable in a pair of shoes that's been broken in as well versus buying a new pair.

    I say wear the silver!

  • Thanks!  I am going to go with the old pair.  I am a little concerned how the old pair will look in pictures if our photographer does getting ready shots, but I could see about having them "repaired" and I could put in my shoe pads after the photos or wear cute print ones like cheetah instead of beige. (I wear the ones that go in front, so that my toes don't slip forward too much and so the shoes aren't as big on me.)

  • definitely wear the old ones.  i have a pair of white shoes that i've worn twice that i'm using. the only 'imperfections' are a light 'foot stain/mark' on the inside of the shoe --- so it might show in pictures if they do the typical 'rings and shoes' shot.

any good photographer will be able to use photoshop or other software to retouch any closeups of your shoes =P

  • Wear what you have. I am wearing a pair I already have that were only worn twice as well. Seems silly to purchase a new pair that will most likely have marks on them by the end of the night anyways.

Wear your old pair and if anyone questions it tell them it's your "something old".
