Bra cups for thin material

Hi!  I have a question for anyone with experience with adding bra cups to their gown.  My gown is pretty thin material on top, and my grandma is going to be making the alterations.  Does anyone have a recommendation for a brand of bra cups that won't be too stiff and show through my dress, but that might also give a little protection from a light breeze?

Re: Bra cups for thin material

  • Hi OP,
I cannot shed light on the bra cups, but I do have some advice. I would recommend having this done by a professional seamstress unless your grandma has specific experience with altering wedding gowns. Wedding gowns are different than any other type of garment due to the beading, materials, etc. and a mistake can easily be made if the person doing the alterations does not have experience. I would recommend splurging on this one to avoid any troubles that might pop up! I think a professional seamstress would probably be able to suggest cups, and would know how to best conceal them.

  • Thanks...she does have experience and even makes wedding dresses.
  • try the nubra...that is what i am using for my thin silk dress.  or, you could try a sewn-in liner, or breast petals.
  • thanks for the advice!
