What to do with "stuff" day of wedding

Being a woman, I always carry around a purse with all my essentials, but what do you do on your wedding day?  I know I won't need as much stuff, but still will want lipgloss, a few other makeup essentials and various in case of emergency things.  What are people doing on the day of?  do you carry a small purse and leave it in the limo? find somewhere to put it at the reception?  I don't want to carry something around all night, but I definitely need a few essentials to get through the day!

Re: What to do with "stuff" day of wedding

  • I would ask your reception venue if they have a separate room (something small) where you and maybe your BMs/GMs can put some items that they may need later.

But just to let you know, I had a bag full of emergency type items and I never once went back to the room we were given to use any of it.  Not even to apply more lip gloss or touch up my makeup.  By the time the reception was in full swing and I was dancing with my friends I could have cared less if my lip gloss had worn off.

  • That's what I was thinking, but good to have some confirmation.  It will be nice to not have a bag to carry around for once, and I doubt I will leave the dance floor once the party starts.
    Thanks!
  • Ditto Maggie. I normally don't go anywhere w/o compact, lip gloss, Excedrin, glasses in case my contacts bother me, rewetting drops, etc, but the day of, I didn't take a single thing with me.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • Personally I have a couple things I'm doing.  My venue has a dressing room that will be off limits to guests, so I'll have a stash of my stuff there.  Anything I might need frequently (chapstick or something like that) will be held by my sister/moh since her dress has pockets (it's actually a formal gown, too...you can't even tell it has pockets!)
  • I plan on doing what i do with my stuff at parties, give FI the essentials to put in his pockets (phone/wallet/keys) and leave the rest in a room

I completely forgot to buy a clutch so I had my purse with me. I only re-touched my make-up once so I ended up taking it to the car.
  • I had an emergency bag in the dressing room at the venue.  I did sneak in there twice to touch up my lipstick, and once my partner and I snuck in there just to have a moment to ourselves.
  • My mom made up a bag for my sisters last year and I made sure I had it near by all day but after the reception started we never went back to it, we plan on doing the same at mine this year just incase. I also saw in a knot magazine a garter belt that had a pocket attached it was super cute I was thinking of getting that just for some mints or Chapstick and just cuz I thought it was cute I probably will forget I have it haha.
    Bunny ??
  • I bought a white clutch and had my compact, gloss, small nailfile, etc. It was in the limo during the ceremony and I had it on the table with me during the reception. My venue had a "suite" for the bridal party to keep their stuff, but I wasn't going to run up the stairs every time I needed gloss. The clutch actually matched the cake, haha!
  • I have a black lace clutch I'm going to carry.
