different body styles for BMs???

Okay I am stuck.

My maid of honor is tall-ish and athletic/slim built (very slim with little curves)
My first bridesmaid is tall and kinda pear shaped (slim up top with little curves, very curvey on bottom)
My second bridesmaid is tall-ish and very curvey (very well endowed up top, very curvey on bottom)

I fell in love with this A-line tea length emerald green dress but I'm afraid that it would work with all body types and more so concerned that they won't be comfortable which is a big no no. I'm also concerned because it's strapless and since one of my BMs is very busty, I don't want her to fall out for her sake and my own as well.... I've though about doing something different with the straps for all of them (adding straps) but still don't know if the dress will work anyways.

HELP!

Also I am having my stepdaughter (will be 10 or 11 at time of wedding) as a junior brides maid. I want somethingn different for her because of her age but inthe same color. I don't know if I should do more length, or what.

Here are links to the dresses I've looked at.

Bridesmaid dress I LOVE:

POSSIBLE JR bridesmaid dress to match above but with added straps:

POSSIBLE JR bridesmaid dress....it has sparkely beading all over...again with added straps:

My wedding will be outdoors and again the dresses will be emerald green and all the girls will be wearing hot pink shoes.

  • They can try things on and you can decide from there.

You shouldn't be picking something out on their behalf ... if they can't try things on, at the very least e-mail them some choices and let them vote based on the photos.

Or, pick the designer you want, and the color/fabric/skirt length, and let everyone pick her own style. It will still coordinate, but everyone can pick an individually flattering style.

Or at least pick an option with straps, and an option without straps (or one dress that can be worn with or without straps), and they can each pick what they want.

It won't be a problem at all if they all aren't in the exact same dress.

  • The tea length dress is lovely, but I think that it would be a difficult style for many body types to pull off....I think that it would be nice for someone with long legs and a flat tummy...but the length will make a short girl's legs look stubby, and that beautiful smooth satin will show every little curve on a fuller girl.

Try to find something with some ruching...that will be very flattering on the curvy girls, and will give a nice shape to the tall slim girl.

Here is a shameless plug for my own BM's dress (available in other colours):

    Good luck!!!!
  • I agree with pp. I picked the store (DB), colors, length & fabric and the girls picked the dresses. In the fabric I chose, there were 4 different styles to choose from and I also have a wide variety of body types with my girls. They all love their dresses and feel great in them.
  • YOu can always order the Jr BM dress in that BM dress and add straps I agree with the PP ask your girls individually what would be most comfortable some might not want to point out their fllaws in front of others.

  • It's becoming more and more common for bridesmaids to be in dresses that coordinate rather than match identically.  I had girls size 4-24, I just told them to pick something black, and they looked great.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • Ditto above. Let them choose, just give them guidelines.  No one has to match. My girls have ended up in 2 different styles.  Everyone thinks I'm nuts, not only did they get to choose their own dress and shoes, but my groom chose a Mossy Oak camo vest & tie.  The groomsmen are them only ones I chose, they will be in navy vests & ties.
