Floral hairpiece

Ok so... I have decided that I would like to have a floral hairpiece instead of a veil. I am having a hard time finding what I want. I would like to make it myself if possible. Can anyone post their ideas or examples of what they used? Any help would be great!

Also.... Due to my engagement ring's unique shape I am having a band customized to fit it. anyone else have this done?  I would love to know if anyone else has my ring with a band. I would like to see what it looks like before having a band customized.

  • Oh you're in VA too! And I'm doing the same thing! Personally, I'm doing something like this:

Hope that helps, and good luck!!Wink

  • Just noticed the link takes you to cakes, not hairpieces for some reason. Well they have lots of good pix here. If you go to the main page and click on hairstyles, then go to updos, almost all of them have flowers in their hair. That's where I'm getting my ideas from. I also heard from someone that H & M has nice flowers for hair. I found one at David's Bridal, but it was $100, and I'm not spending that much on a fake flower!

  • I had to have my ring customized because I have a pear shaped e-ring that is rather on the large size, so no curved bands that were available at jewellery stores fit it. Having it custom made was easy. There's a jeweller in the same plaza as my office that has a great reputation and a gold smith on side. I took it there, we talked about what I wanted, he had my ring for half a day to take a mould of it so he could start work on the ring. He then made a wax prototype so I could see how the two would fit together. Once I signed off on that he started work on the wedding ring. He then needed my e-ring again for a few hours to make sure the diamonds on the band lined up with the diamond on the ering band. All in all, took about 3 weeks and he actually came in under budget.

Note that if you use a chain jewellery store that doesn't have a gold smith on site it will probably take longer and you will definitely be without your ring for more than four hours at a time. Some of the girls on my month board were without their rings for weeks. Just something to consider.

As far as the floral headpiece, check out Etsy. That's where I got all my wedding jewellery and my hair comb. Plus a lot of the vendors will often custom make something for you if you find something in their store that you like but want changes to.
