Warning About Goweddingdress.com

To all the brides out there considering buying a dress from this website:

Please, DO NOT, buy a dress from this website. They have the worst customer service and DO NOT adhere to a very customer unfriendly return policy. Furthermore, their dresses are of incredibly poor quality and are NOT as described on their website. Most importantly, they only accept payment via Western Union or direct bank wire and you CANNOT get your money back. They are deliberately out to scam people. Read below for some more details:

1. Their return policy reads: "We accept returns if the item with obvious quality problems which can be defined as follows: obvious wrong color as customer chose." Despite having sent me my dress in the WRONG COLOR, they refused to accept a return and instead insisted on sending me another poor quality dress. Their stated return policy already is set-up to put their customers at a disadvantage (very few reasons for "acceptable" returns), and they refuse to adhere to it.

2. The dress I received was of TERRIBLE QUALITY. It claimed to be a Stephanie James Couture Audrey dress, but looked nothing like it. Their were several defects, including unraveling material and a hideous polka dot mesh overlay rather than an elegant and delicate swiss dot mesh that is on the original dress. Overall, it looked incredibly cheap, especially the white taffeta, and I can't imagine anyone wanting to wear something like that on their wedding day.

3. The only payments they accept are direct bank wires or a wire via Western Union. I didn't think much of it until they refused my return and started looking into ways to get my money back. It turns out that they quite deliberately chose these 2 forms of payment because they are the only kind that cannot be refunded. There's no buyer protection as you'd find via Paypal or a credit card company. Unless Goweddingdress.com is willing to send your money back, you're out on whatever you paid. As a bride on a budget, this is devastating. I'm struggling to figure out how I'll be able to find a new dress since I've spent half my budget on a dress that I simply cannot wear.

Please, save yourself the time, money, and stress and DO NOT buy from this website! You're likely to be very disappointed and you'll be left without any reasonable options.

Re: Warning About Goweddingdress.com

  • Sounds like a knock-off site. There's a sticky at the top of the forum about why people shouldn't order from them (mostly what you're describing)

  • This is why we tell people not to trust online knockoff sites. I'm sorry you had this experience, but I never understand why people order from those places and then are like, "OMG, look what happened to me!" about it.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

    Agreed.

These sites are too good to be true.  Why would you think that you are getting the same exact designer dress that costs X amount in a store but costs 3/4th less on some random website.  There is a reason for such a dramatic price difference because it is not the same dress!

I am sorry you had a bad experience but like with many things you get what you pay for.

  • Sorry to hear you were scammed. I'd suggest looking into a department store dress if you're on a budget, a BM dress in white or a prom dress. GL!
