Help! Ivory Dress... Groom in?

Hi Ladies!
My wedding is in the afternnon in July.
My dress is Ivory with 'mocha' accents.
I was originally thinking to put my husband to be in Grey. Do you think this will look odd against my dress? I don't want him in Black.
He really wants to wear Linen pants and a cotton shirt. (he wants to be comfy and casual)
What are you opinions my lovelies?

  • Oooh, I love the Geneva dress! I almost bought that one myself, but decided on a lighter dress since we decided to do a DW. I think grey would look lovely with it!

  • Your dress seems so formal and beautiful. So unless your wedding is on the beach, I think the groom should wear a tux or suit. Linen pants tend to be for beach/destination weddings.

Like a pp mentioned, charcoal would go well with it.

[QUOTE]That is a beautiful formal dress.  Your FI needs to suck it up and wear a suit.  Charcoal would be a nice choice.

</div><div>This.  It's one of the most important and photographed day of your lives.  He may not be 100% comfortable, but it's not your typical weekend gathering.  He needs to dress up and look like he's the groom.  :)

  • I agree with the posters saying that your groom should wear a suit.  Even if you are having a beach wedding in the sand he will still look out of place next to you in linen pants and a shirt.

He needs to suck it up.  After the ceremony and pictures he is more then welcome to take off the jacket, loosen up the tie, and roll up the sleeves of his shirt if he wants, but he needs to be at the same formality level as your dress.

PS - your dress is gorgeous!

  • That dress is so drool-worthy!  I agree with PP, he should probably wear something formal like a nice suit.  He has to look good on your arm, right?

  • I just fell in love with your dress... it's beautiful.
Typically I'd say he can pick whatever he wants to wear, but with the formality of your dress, he'll look under dressed next to you.
    Praying for a miracle!
  • Thanks Ladies!

Charcoal/Grey was my first choice. Then I started to second guess myself. You know how it goes.

Thanks for the comments on my gown as well. It was the 4th gown I tried on and I wasn't sold at first. I went to another salon and tried on 22 other gowns but I couldn't get this one out of my head. I tired it back on with the original salon at a bridal show and ended up getting it 20% off. SWEET! I've never felt more beautiful in any other article of clothing.

Thank you re-affirming that I'm not completely crazy... yet.
  • Pretty dress! I agree that grooms look better in a suit. Maybe you could compromise with him on the suit color? I like gray, but maybe he'd be happier with a tan colored suit? Not as informal linen pants, but still in that same color family.
