Mixed Military/Policeman/Civilian groomsmen attire

Hi All!
I'm having a bit of a tough time trying to sort out my fiance's side of the bridal party. To give you a little background, we're having an woodland outdoor ceremony in the late afternoon this summer. My dress and my bridesmaids dresses are all flowy chiffon, theirs is floor length and mine is an open back. Their dresses are an antiqued grass green and mine is "Ecru" by name but much better described as antique beige. I chose this color because my fiance will be in his Navy Whites and I didnt want us both in bright whites that would have very well be slightly off, if only in a difference in fabric. He has groomsmen in the navy, the army, a police officer, and two civilians. Im struggling with blue or black for the civilians and a full suit with straight tie (bc of the more organic nature of the wedding) or a tux with straight tie (to pair with the formal military uniforms) I do not have a problem with things not matching up, I'd actually prefer it. Things that are "matchy matchy" dont necessarily appeal to me. Thanks in advance for any advice and help, its greatly appreciated!

Re: Mixed Military/Policeman/Civilian groomsmen attire

  • Well, seeing as your fiance is in his whites and has three others of his groomsmen in their dress uniforms, it seems more formal (even for an ourdoor wedding) and I think black tux's would fit in best with the dress uniforms. And maybe for their ties, you could find the same color as your BM's dresses?

Have you talked to him about what he wants the two other guys to wear?

    Thanks for your responses.

My fiance was on the fence with this just as I was, thats why I wanted to post here and see what others would come up with. I think youre both right, that tuxes would work best. I was talking with him about it in an email today (hes on deployment until mid may) and his response to cabledawgs black tux opinion (mbcdefg you hadnt posted yet) was to bring the navy color (which is part of our color scheme - sunsetyellow, green, navy) in with the tux vest and ties which was a great addition to your solutions.

Thanks for your help again! Its greatly appreciated.
