Davids Bridal - Bridesmaid dresses

Hi all!

I'm a bridesmaid in one of my best friends' wedding which is taking place next year in April. She has six bridesmaids, including myself, and told us that we have free reign with whatever dress we want from DB's as long as it's short dress and in watermelon. 

I've already had a bad experience with a bridesmaids dress from Davids Bridal, with it being smaller than the actual sample (which was really loose on me) in store. I also know that I'll probably lose ten lbs by next year.

How soon should I pick out the dress? I've heard that most dresses from DB don't take more than two months, but have any of your dresses take longer than that? Also do you know when a new line come out? I want to wait for the newer styles to come out.

There new color scheme comes out in December. Keep an eye on their website or pop in one of their stores for the latest catalog/magazine thing. I also had 6 BM's and we ordered their dresses from DB. We went shopping in January and most of the girls ordered them in March or April (after they got their tax returns). Most of them came in within the 2 month range, a few took a little longer. I think a few months out is fine as the wedding is in Nov and it is not really a prime time for weddings. They told us to allow a little extra time bc it being prime wedding season.

And remember, if you need to have alterations done, you don't have to get them done at DB, you can use your own seamstress.

I had the exact same experience with one of my bridesmaids.  Take it as a lesson learned, and order a size up, or get measured.

All my girls' dresses came in about 2 months.  I think you'll be fine shopping around in January or so, and then if you lose any more weight you can still have it altered.

Remember that DB carries a LOT of their dresses in stock, so chances are reasonably good that you might be able to simply buy something off the rack, or have it shipped over from another store that has it in stock.  For my sister's wedding, I walked out of the store with my dress the same day.

The reason why the dresses in the store are bigger than the ones that are ordered is because with so many people trying them on they get stretched out.  There's always girls who swear they're a size 8 when they're really a 14. Not DB's fault.  I say order the size that fits you in the store and if it comes in too small just exchange it for the next size.  Oh and btw DB's new collection just came out last month.  The next one is in Dec.

my gals had no problems with sizes but they're all 2s. 
That said it took them about 4 weeks to get their dresses in when they told us 4 monsth

I ordered my dress for my sisters wedding at the end of Feburary and my dress came in about mid April but when I ordered my dress they said it could take up to 4 months. In reality my dress only took about a month and a half to come in.
