Where to find a dress built for very busty women?

Hi - 

I wear a 34HH cup and I am looking for a wedding dress. I know I wear an unusual size, but I figure there must be stores that cater to women with similar figures.

There is no particular rush... I am not getting married for at least a year.

I live in New York but would be willing to travel to go to a boutique. 

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You are going to have to try different dresses on. I have a big chest for my size, but not quite as big as yours. My dress is a basically a mermaid with a corset back. I will also be having cups sewn in so I don't have to find a strapless bra that fits. Also, since you are in NY, you will probably have more choices than I did in my state.

My friend just got married and she has the same size chest as you.  She bought her dress from Alfred Angelo.  When buying a dress for a bigger bust, you need to order a size that fits your bust area.  I would also talk to the salesperson at the salon to make sure that the designers you try on can change their pattersns.  Some will open up the chest area while others will not change their patterns.

Also, I would pose this question on your local board to see if anyone may have been in a similar scenario and where they went for their dress.

I have a large bust as well, and just bought my dress at David's bridal - I had to order a larger dress and will be having a majority of the rest taken in to fit correctly. Dresses need to fit the biggest part of your body and then can be taken in, in other areas as needed.

I'd look into getting a dress from a designer that makes them to order. Ian Stuart's dresses are made that way, and they all contain 21 bone corsets built into the dresses. There are other companies-smaller ones-that make the dresses this way.

Hi,
Have you already chosen the dress style? If you have the picture of the dress in hand, you may contact a dress dealer to check if they can customize the dress according to your own measurements. I noticed many online dress stores offer custom size, you just need to pay a little extra money. Good luck!

HappyLisa, please stop spamming these boards with your knockoff dress website.  Every post you've responded to has had a link or a picture of a dress to the same knockoff site.
