Dress, opinions

What do you think of this dress on me.  Please be honest, I know family/friends and even the sales ppl tell you look great when you really don't but don't want to hurt your feelings.  I know the pictures arn't the best

Added more pictures in another post further down.

Re: Dress, opinions

  • I like the ruching on the waist, but am really not a fan of the skirt. It's not bad, just not my style.

I like the idea of the neckline, but the proportions seem wrong somehow--is it just because the sample is the wrong size?
  • I like the overall shape on you, but I think the pick-ups on the side of the skirt make you look wider than you are. I think if it fell smoothly it would create one line that would slim you a little bit better.

And I agree with Opal, I really like the ruching on the waist.

  • I'm with PP.  I really like the top of the dress but I don't really like the skirt.

  • I love the top of the dress and think the waist is super flattering -- but the skirt isn't doing you any justice and is not as fabulous as the top.  I agree that the pick-up skirt and the under lace are too busy and make you look wider than you are.
  • I don't love it, sorry, and I agree with the PP that it's not as flattering on you as it could be. Sounds like you're kind of doubting it as well, if you don't feel beautiful in it, then I would definitely keep looking until you find the one that makes you feel that way.

  • Ditto PPs that the ruching is great but I'm not a fan of the skirt.  I don't really like pickup skirts in general, though.
  • I really do like it but I'm always looking for other opinions.  I had already ordered a dress and just fund out that they can't get it in so I have to start over.  Honestly it looked better in person now that i'm looking at these pictures.  I only have a short time to find another dress to be able to get it in on time.

  • I agree with everyone else.  The ruching is great and I like the top in theory (though it looks a little off--might just be the size), but the bottom isn't doing you any favors.  It makes you look bigger than you are.  I think a similar top with a skirt without the draping would be great!
  • I like the first on in your second post best.

  • I'm also not a pick-up skirt fan, but the top one in your second post I think looks very nice on you and seems to cut you in all the right places.

  • I think the top one of your other post looks best. I like the details on the top of that dress. It really defines your waist.

  • I like the first one in your second post best as well.  I don't mind the pickups as much in that one either, since they aren't a million of them or straight across they don't have that widening effect that the first dress's pickups had.
  • I don't love it, I think this dress is not doing you justice,
  • IThe one in the top picture I think is much more flattering, I really like how it looks on you..

  • I like the first dress in second post it shows you have a clearly defined waist, and has a nice drop waist that flatters us gals with hips!

    two thumbs up!

  • yep. agree with everyone else. the dress in the original post is okay, just doesnt' have a 'wow' factor - and the pickups on either side make you look wider that you are.

i really like the first dress in the second post. I think it is very flattering and beautiful!
  • The first dress is your new post is definitely more flattering than the second.  It highlights your waist, while the second one does not give the same hour-glass WOW look.
  • The skirt with all the extra fabric is adding inches where you probably don't need them. It makes you wider than you are.

I say no pick ups, no problem!  I liked the pickups at first too, but you can have the same effect with your bustle-I got a six point bustle!  Then you get that look on the back without the volume!
  • I agree with the PP...the first dress is not as flattering a style as you deserve for your wedding day :-)

But I do like the first dress in your second post.  The style looks great on you, and gives you a more defined look in the waist than the dress in your original post.

Plus...I can't help but adding that I tried on the dress in your original post as well, and I found it to be extremely heavy and bulky.  I liked the dress, but there were just so many layers of fabric in that skirt!  The first dress in your second post doesn't look like it is as bulky, and it looks like it would be much more comfortable to wear all day.

    Good luck!

  • I like the rouching on the waist, but I'm not a fan of the bottom of the skirt. It doesn't  flatter you very much. I think you can find something better that shows off your shape even better. I'm very hippy, and I am going with a dress that shows that off my figure and doesn't hide it.

  • I agree with PPs...the first dress in your second post looks lovely on you :)
