Pre-owned wedding dress?

I am in love with a dress but its $6000 and I just can't justify spending nearly that much.  I have seen this dress on preownedweddingdresses.com for a lot less but I'm not sure how I feel about buying someone else's dress.  So my question is - would you wear a pre-owned dress?  Why or why not?

Re: Pre-owned wedding dress?

  • I absolutely would.  It has probably been worn for a maximum of 12 hours - why wouldn't I buy it?

  • If I could find my dress for a lower price I would by it pre-owned.. It is the same as a sample dress.. I know that I would get it cleaned prior even if the seller got it cleaned.. I would do it again..
I want to look my best and get what I want, but not go broke in the process.. That's just me

  • Definitely! My dream dress is $1500 and that's nowhere near my budget. I've been stalking preownedweddingdresses and recycledbride.com to see if anyone is selling it.

Also, a lot of times they are already altered so you wouldn't need to spend a lot for that (i.e. bustle already added).
  • Heck yes I would. I almost did, but it didn't fit right. I loved a very expensive dress. But I decided to keep looking and bought one off the rack that was beautiful and I was happy with for 163 dollars!
  • Most definitely! No need to break the bank to have a new dress that you will only wear once. If you love it buy it!

  • I'm actually in the process of buying one right now on recycledbride.com. I mean i'm not going to spend 5K on a wedding gown.
  • Yes and already bought it.  much cheaper less than 1/4 of the price and so happy it made so much room in the budget.
  • if it's exactly the same dress-for a lot less money? Yeahh, you should go with it.
Nobody is going to know it's been worn once before, right? So you shouldn't care.
It's an affordable dress and exactly the one you want. I sometimes buy designer clothes in a consignment store-if they are in perfect condition, nobody will know the difference.
  • sooo cute, I love them. what are the prices exactly/ do they have free shipping by any chance?
  • I bought a sample and I'm so glad I did.  I then altered it into the dress of my dreams.
  • I'm a big fan of consignment shopping in general, so buying a dress that I know was only worn a few hours would be a no brainer.  I actually looked for my dress pre-owned, but couldn't find it, so I bought it new (it was still in my budget anyways) and then I donated it after the wedding so that someone else might have a chance to wear it.

  • I would buy a used gown in a heartbeat.  i have no qualms about it.  however, check to see if it's been altered because and what the new measurements are.
