Need input... Entire Bridal Party

We are having pretty casual wedding--. G, BM, & GM are wearing black suits not tuxes, with white shirts. We haven't decided on tie color(s) yet.

I am still trying to find a dress that is affordable (prefer to stay under $150) but isn't too fancy. I'd really like for it to be a white dress, but I guess if push came to shove, I would be willing to look for different colors.

For my BM & MoH I have several choices I am looking at and actually pcked up two dresses today on sale that I think might work (if I got the sizes right!) The dresses were only $12 each! My MoH is on vacation so I have been fretting about this and not able to get a hold of her...

I am having trouble visualizing this casual fall-colored dresses next to suits or wondering if the men are going to be "too formal" or the girls "too casual" (here are some of my ideas for the BM dresses - http://pinterest.com/luvpinsanity/dresses/) and then I get worried that I won't fit in either....I was looking at a simple dress like this (http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Satin-Off-the-Shoulder-A-Line-with-Side-Drape-9BR1035_Bridal-Gowns-Shop-By-Size-Plus-Sizes) or this (http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Halter-Chiffon-A-Line-with-Center-Front-Draping-9BR1007_Bridal-Gowns-Shop-By-Size-Plus-Sizes

I have too small kids, so I definately want to stay on the "nice" side of casual, but not too nice and not too casual. Gawk, freaking out.

  • That dress looks nice.  The neckline is very flattering. Go for it!
  • You could always have the gentlemen go without jackets if you're worried they are too formal. Most of those dresses you have on pinerest can be dressed up with nice heals and jewelery. I'd stick with a shorter dress if you want casual. Both of the wedding dresses you posted work, but I feel like the first will work better.

We are doing a very formal wedding. My ladies will all have long dresses, and the gentlemen in tuxes. My dress is extremely formal tons of crystal and lace.

  • Okay, first dress it is. I'm going to keep that page book marked. I'm going next week to DB so I am hoping they have something similar in the store.

Now.... should the men wear vests with their suits or just 2-pc suit? I think I want them to keep the jacket cause I already told them black suit with white shirt. Of course most of them will probably take it off for the reception so I think I just won't fret about it and just tell the girls they need to "dress up" their outfit a tad. It should work out fine.

My FI loves "accessories" and would really like a pocket square. I told him I think it's too much. Should I veer away from solid color ties because they will be seen as more "formal"? Whatever color I pick for the Groom, I need to make sure their is a matching kids tie for the ring bearer (he is our son.)

  • Our wedding was a mix of formal and casual- I had a big fluffy white dress and my husband wore a black suit with a silver vest and silver tie. His groomsmen work black suits with solid colored ties in different jewel tones (to go with my BMs who had solid colored knee-length dresses in a variety of jewel tones.) The look was formal at times, particularly in the church, when I had my cathedral length veil. At the reception all the guys took off their jackets and rolled up their sleeves and my husband shed his jacket in favor of just wearing the vest and tie. I switched to a flower hair clip and my dress felt dressed down a knotch because there's no train (the veil really had a dramatic effect on the formality!) I looked at that first dress because I love the off the shoulder look but they didn't have it in my DB- wound up getting a different gown because I apparently wanted all the bells and whistles (lace, tulle, beading, a tiered skirt) except for a train!
