Used Dress?

So they say you only wear a wedding dress once, so what is wrong with buying a used one? I am so excited to be a bride but the thought of paying full price for a dress is daunting. Would that be aweful to find a used dress? I live in Southern California and I wouldn't even know where to begin looking. Any words of advice or suggestions would be great.

I bought a vintage used wedding dress for my civil ceremony.  It looked and felt wonderful.  My advice would be to go for it but make sure you can try on the the dress.  Fit is everything.

The classifieds board here might also have some options for you, but I agree with PP, try on the dress before you buy it.

I would start by going to stores in your area to find out what styles you like/want, then hunt for 'em.

Thanks everyone for the input. I'm glad it's not a completely crazy idea. I just like the thought of being able to pamper our guests more because I saved on the dress. I'm gonna go check out the sites cmgilpin posted, thanks again!
