Altering design a lil on Casablanca dress? Anyone have experience?

Hey guys,
Wow! I love these boards, I've gotten answers to most my questions so far.

I'm thinking of altering the design of a Casablanca dress (# 2053).  I've heard that Casablanca is wonderful about making small-ish changes to their dresses.  Has anyone done this and had a good experience with it? 

What I'd like to do with this dress is move the crystal band at the waist up a little so that it would be a more flattering (on me) Empire waist and make the bottom more of a ballgown shape (just make it poof a little more, which again, makes me feel like I have some kind of figure lol).

Opinions please and experiences both good and bad.  I feel like these subtle changes will make this dress the perfect one for me.  Its between this one or Allure # 8802 whose shape I'm trying to mimick somewhat with these alterations.

I have not had any experience with changing dresses but making your dress fuller will be easy...most likely you will just need to purchase a petticoat which will puff out your dress a little more to give it better structure.

The only thing I am concerned about is moving the beaded belt up to right under your bust.  If you do this, the back may not look correct.  If the belt is moved up the belt will most likely hit right at the top of the back of the dress.
