Dress pickup and alteration question

Hi All,

I ordered my dress from David's Bridal and like many of the ladies here, it has arrived 3 months early. My wedding isnt until September so I am not sure what is the best thing to do? Do I pick up the dress and store it myself and take it for alterations closer to the date? Do I get them to start alerterations now? I am hoping to lose a few more pounds before the wedding so don't want to start too soon.

I also have resevations around David's Bridal alterations - I hesitated buying my dress from them as they seem unprofessional, but in the end I just didnt want to pay too much for my dress and their price was right :-). Is it best to get it altered with the store you brought it or take it somewhere else? I live in NYC so tons of options to get it altered.

Happy Friday! Sorry if this gets reposted - something weird happned and the boards seemed to go down for a bit and my post was lost.

Anyway, so like many of the ladies here, my dress from David's Bridal has come in 3 months early and I am not sure whether I should go and pick it up now (they only hold for 14 days), or start the alteration process with them now? My wedding isnt until September so it seems early to start especially as I would still love to lose a couple of pounds.

I am also hesitant to use their alteration services since the David's Bridal I went to was unprofessional compared to the other salons I went to. I was hesitant buying my dress from there, but ultimately it came down to pricing and they have good prices :-). I am thinking I pick up the dress an independent tailor to do alterations closer to the date - or is it best to do with the place you buy the dress from? I am in NYC so I have lots of options.
