Maid of Honor Attire Different from Bridesmaid :/

My sister is my Maid of honor.. She is apart of the gay/lesbian community and is rather the boy in the relationship. She won't wear a dress, and I'm trying to figure out an attire for her that will look good and accent the bridesmaids. I'm going for a chocolate brown color for the girls. Any opinions, comments, etc??

  • A pantsuit?  A pair of nice dress pants & a dress shirt?  A matching suit?  The same tux the GM are wearing?

  • Maybe y'all could talk it out and see exactly what she's comfortable with.
I agree, though, a pantsuit is probably your best option.

I'd go with a pair of very dressy black pants, and a matching or coordinating dressy blouse.
  • I don't mean to be insensitive, but what does her sexual orientation have to do with anything?  Lots of lesbians wear very feminine clothing.

Do you know why she won't wear a dress?  Is it that she won't wear the dress you've selected or she absolutely won't wear any dress?  I'd try to get her to shop with you and see if there's something she can be comfortable in.
  • Ask your sister what she would be comfortable in and gofrom there.

  • What achiduck said. Some people just aren't comfortable in dresses regardless of sexual orientation. If you don't mind her not in a dress, I'm sure she can give you suggestions, and you can come up with something you both like.

  • Just ask her what she wants to where and tell her the BMs are wearing chocolate brown! This is an easy one.
  • Ceh789- I think it was alittle bit insensitive of you. Alot of lesbians do not wear feminine clothes and she is not one to wear a dress. She even hated it as alittle girl.
I know my sister well enough to know that a dress is out of the question! I love my sister for who she is, lesbian or straight it doesn't matter to me as long as she is comfortable and happy.

Everyone else who commented, thank you for your opinion. I know she wants to go with a pant suit but then the colors come into play. She doesn't want to wear chocolate brown. I'm trying to keep it a fall color scheme.
