Wedding Dress Prices

Hello,
I bought a dress this weekend and I would like to hire a dressmaker to make that exact dress only in white for my wedding dress. It is a very basic dress, almost like a sundress, so I'm probably looking at the labor being my only major expense. What kind of price quotes should I be expecting?

I don't think you're going to get an exact number here. It depends a lot on the dress, how intricate it is, how much fabric it will need and extras like beading and buttons. In all honesty, I would just go out and get quotes from several dress makers and see if they seem reasonable to you compared to the cost of buying the designer dress. You have to factor in the amount of time it will take and the maker's skill level as well.

If you need more info on prices, I would try posting this on your local board and see if anyone in your area had their dress made.

It really depends on the dress style, detailing and fabric.

I considering have my A-line silk shantung BM dresses made...I sought out 2 quotes...the designer wanted $200 and the dress makers wanted $120.

However, I also sought out quotes from the same person for a RH dress...the store price was $200 and the dress makers price was $175...not that big of a difference.

It really just depends, GL!
