Tux Question

My fiance and several members of the bridal party are a little bit more heavy weight.
His best man is very tall and big..

Is it better to to get 1 button or 2 button?

Also, if we are getting ties vs bow ties, does it matter on 1 button vs 2?

Re: Tux Question

  • Typically heavier set people look slimmer in a two button jacket.

As for which type of tie, that is really up to your FI and what he feels most comfortable in.  Personally I like a necktie vs a bow tie on most men.  Unless of course that man is George Clooney or Bradley Cooper and then it doesn't really matter what tie they are wearing because I am too busy looking at their face to care LOL!

  • Generally 2 button suites are the most flattering on most men.  It's sorta the A-line dress equivalent.
  • I  meant do you need to go 2 button if you are doing necktie (wasn't sure if 1 button means tie will hang out at bottom..

    Sorry for the confusion.

    I
  • What determines the tie type (please correct me if I am wrong everyone) is the type of collar of your shirt.  You can certainly wear a regular tie if the jacket is only one button.  Also, not sure if you are going to have them wear a vest as well, but that will hide the bottom portion of the long tie if you don't want to see it peeking through the jacket.

I would also suggest that since the GMs are tall and a bit heavier then not only have them wear a 2 button jacket but a double breasted jacket as well.  The double breasted jacket will help to emphasize their height
