What do the Dads wear?

Ok girls...I need your help and opinions. My colors and Purple and Orange.  My bridesmaids are all in purple and the groomsman are all in orange...the groom willbe in silver and I of course will be in white...so what color do my dad and my grooms dad wear?  They want to rent tux's but do I put them in the same color as the groomsmen or do I put them in a different color...or in silver like the groom?  What are you all doing?

Parents aren't required to coordinate with the WP.

My dad will wear a suit and tie he already owns. I'm sure whatever they want to wear is fine.

Our fathers will be in a tux with a black vest and black tie.  The groom is in ivory and the groomsmen are in wine matching the bridesmaids.

For my first wedding (1992), my father wore a tux, exH's father wore a suit and bowtie.  Neither father attended my wedding last year.  We would have been thankful to have either (or both) of them in attendance, dressed in whatever attire they would have liked.

Agreed. My dad will be 77 and I am just thrilled to bits he will be there. I tear up just thinking about it! I'll be a wreck and I don't care at all.

My dad rented a tux for my brother's very formal wedding last year. Mine is going to be much more casual, so I told my dad to wear whatever he wanted. It all depends.

My Dad already owned a tux with a silver/grey vest so he wore that.

Your Dad can wear whatever he would like as long as he sticks with the formality of the event.  He does not have to coordinate with the WP because he is not in the WP.

did your Fi and GM rent/buy suits at the same place?  If so, the dads can go in and say 'we're the fathers of the so-and-so wedding' and the sales people can suggest suits that compliment the WP.

I have an ivory dress with champagne accents, my dad is wearing a champagne vest to match me when he walks me down the aisle. FI's dad will be wearing the same. The GM are wearing red vests, FI is wearing all black. That is how we seperated them. But our colors are red, black, and ivory and we wanted to incorporate them in the tuxs.

My dad seems to think that he needs to be wearing the same thing as the groomsmen because he's walking me down the aisle, and therefore part of the wedding party.... is that a thing? I don't mind if he does that, but I had never heard of it.
