Dress change again 3 weeks before wedding!

So after buying 5 gowns, I'm back to the #3 gown I bought! Wedding is end of August! Baaaah!

I had so many gowns because the # of real life gowns I can try on near me is slim, hence all these internet buys. They were good deals though.

I took a few online photo polls of my gowns for some internet help. I had drastically different results. Different lighting and backgrounds make some people hate a dress, then put it in a different light and pose, and it became the favorite. It was very confusing! I didn't know which one I wanted!

So I finally asked some friends to come over to my house to witness these dresses on me in real life. I needed input from real people! I was reluctant to ask people to help originally since I am eloping and technically they wouldn't be part of the wedding, so no bridesmaids to help me you know? I bribed them with homemade scones and mimosas and they were happy to help.

Here she is, my Casablanca. I doubted her after I bought her, bought two more gowns after her and now I'm back to this gown! I bought a nice corset bra, so that will help with the bust area (not on for photo however). The only issue: I have 5.25" heels on in this photo and I want to downgrade to 4" so it may drag a little more.

Oh, I'm sorry I doubted you, my Casablanca!

Oh wow. Is this the one you want, or was it the poll winner. Don't ask too many ppl. Just focus on what you want and hopefully you won't worry anymore. Are you going to have it altered if you switch shoes? Or maybe just wear the higher heels for pics and switch to the 4" for comfort? Funny "dress affair" post though :) Good luck!

  • 5 dresses? Siriusly?
  • I love the one in all those photos. Congratulations!
  • You could try a crinoline underneath to lift the hem a bit; it might drag less. Just don't ask for any opinions... lol. Seriously - it looks gorgeous!

Yes, seriously. There are not many gown to try on here in my area in my budget. I'm not paying $500 for a dress, no way. So I found lots of interent deals. One is already sold.

Each dress had something I did love and didn't love. It's hard to buy attire online, know how the fabric feels, etc. But I did write off THIS gown just because it had a train, despite how pretty is was.

I think also our wedding location kept changing so many times, so a different dress was more suitable for other places. But now the place we're getting married is outdoors, but with a patio and it's a scenic place so this gown will work and be perfect.

I have an affinity for ball gowns, but after taking video of me in the ball gowns versus this gown, the Casablanca is far more flattering. I think the ball gowns were just more fun honestly, but this one is more beautiful and flattering. I guess my friends got me to give this dress another look, and I feel much better about it now after watching the videos.

4" heels with a 1" platform is like 3" heels and I can totally do that. Maybe even 4.5" - I was able to walk forward without tripping. It's too intricate to get hemmed in the time I have left. I can do a crinoline of some sort, like someone suggested.
