Dress opinions?

Hi,

I've narrowed my dress hunt down to two very different dresses. I'm a very curvy girl, so many dresses look odd on me. The first is a silk dress with a lot of ruching. It's very fitted through the body and not overly pouffy down below. It's totally what I had imagined myself in, and looks great (well, they had it only in a larger size, so it was clipped, but you could still get the idea.)

The second is lace, sweetheart neckline and a-line. It's a more modern-looking lace and looks smoking hot. However, it's not at all what I would have pictured myself in. In fact, the idea of lace, before I saw this dress, wasn't at all appealing to me.

So, what do you think? Do I get the dress that's the one I'd pictured, that looks great on, or do I go for the super-hot surprise lace one? They're both comfortable, so that's not really an issue. The lace one is more expensive, but not so much more so that it would make it a no-go. The people who came with me as are undecided as I am, and I need to order it ASAP!

    Hi,

Pics are hard since a lot of places won't let you take apicture (or even have a cell phone) in the area where you try the dresses on.

The first one is actually me. It was heavily clipped behind me.

This is similar to the second, lacy one, but the one that I was looking at had no sash/bow.

  • I love the beautiful simplicity of the lace one. It's really pretty and sweet, and I think it would look amazing on your body type. I will admit that I am a little biased because I have a similar body type and also wore a lace a-line dress (not at all what I imagined I would wear!).

I think the rouching on the other dress is kind of overwhelming, but that could be because the dress is too big and clipped onto you.

  • Another lace vote here. I agree the rouching looks a little overwhelming in the picture there to me.

  • I'm obsessed with lace! Another vote for the lace
  • If you feel that the lace dress looks smoking hot on you then don't worry that it wasn't what you pictured you'd wear. Many women end up selecting a dress they didn't think they would like or didn't think would look good on them (including me). :) Go for the lace.
  • I never thought I would want a lace dress either, and I too now have a lace dress! If you thought you looked hot, go for it! I agree with PPs that the first one is pretty but the rouging is a little overwhelming

  • Thank you for the input! After a night to think on it, and seeing what you all are saying, I think you're right. The lace on does look way better, it was just a surprise to me. Lace it is!

  • I think the lace wedding dress is more appropriate !It skims curves rather than clinging to the body to create an elegant silhouette.
