Clothes for Engagement Portrait

So, I'm assuming this is the best board for this question.

FI and I are getting an engagement portrait taken on Saturday. This isn't a full engagement session with our photographer, just a portrait studio kind of thing (we live out of state from our wedding/photographer). Would it be too matchy if we both wore jeans and a cashmere v-neck sweater? Mine would be dark purple, his would be dark grey. Should he wear a collared shirt underneath, like he does for work or do you think it'd look nicer without?

I think it would look good for him to have the collared undershirt. It'll still be cute, but not completely matchy.

If you both wear the sweaters I definitely think a button up underneath would be a good call. Otherwise I do think it might look a bit matchy matchy.

I honestly think it would be fine but I do think the undershirt would look even better.
