We're doing tuxes and the guys are wearing navy vest/ties and FI is wearing Ivory. I had kind of thought you just picked out what the dads would wear based on your color scheme. This is all based on our experience at Men's Wearhouse when we were picking out the tuxes (I honestly don't remember what dads at weddings wore). The girl there told us to pick out what they'd wear so we did.
We were putting the dad's in matching vests/ties (bisque- like a tan-ish color) so that they would look different but not clash with the WP colors.
Question for those of you doing tuxes (or I guess even suits too)- did you just let your dads pick out whatever color they wanted? Or did you pick it for them? My dad doesn't care what he wears and told me if I wanted him to wear a paper bag just point him to where to order it. I don't know if I should go back and offer FI's dad to just pick out what he wants to continue to go with what we already chose.
Is it normal to pick out their attire? I guess I'm just confused because FI's dad has made comments about me picking the color but I didn't realize there was anything wrong with that since that's what the MW woman told me to do! (FI's dad also is a major arguer anyway so I know he's the type that would just pick a point to pick... but if it's really not sometihng I should be doing I want to make it right!)
