Debate on bridal purses...

I just got my dress and veil yesterday, yay!!! and I'm researching the pros and cons of carrying a small bridal purse. Are you carrying one???

Re: Debate on bridal purses...

  • I am not planning on it.. I'll probably have my bouquet in one hand and my FH's hand in the other!

  • Nope.  I had no need.  Anything that was super serious (my ID, a credit card and our hotel room key) was in my husband's jacket.
  • I think it's something they try to push on you but will you ever really use it again? When I was the MOH, we wore black, so I carried a black purse with extra things the bride might need (I did that on my own, she was took busy to even think about it).
  • I like having a place for my things that is just mine, so I'll probably have one. I doubt I'll really "carry" it, and I think I'll feel better having one.

I'll probably get one in a colour and then I can use it again (same goes for my shoes).

I'm planning to just use my normal purse, actually.
  • I'm just using another dress purse I already have.  There are just a few things I can't leave home without!  Chapstick, ID, eye drops, etc.

  • I'm going to carry a small one just for ID and etc. but will probably have it in my mother's bag with some other things rather than carrying it on my person.  Then I will have those few essentials on me when I leave.  I purchased an inexpensive one with pearly beads that I didn't think it looked so "bridal" that I wouldn't be able to use it again with a cocktail dress sometime.
Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.
  • I carried a small make-up case that had my essentials in it. And actually my MOH carried it for me. I had my hands full getting married ;)

  • I had one that I bought on sale at a department store.  I had ID, lipstick, and conact stuff in it amd bacl up glasses, but I didn't carry it around.  My MOH had it for a while and it was just by my chair at the reception just in case.  I wouldn't have liked to not have anything especially since I don't usually wear contacts.
  • The MOB or MOG will most likely have a purse or an Aunt..ask them to slip a few essentials in their purse for you...

    Hi MSfallbride-
If you really fall in love with a purse then do it! But if you are just buying one, just because...then skip it. One of your bridemaids can help you out- carrying your essentials. Does your dress have pockets?- you can always stash some lipgloss in there!
  • I bought one that I can use again.  I'm going to give it to our wedding planners before the ceremony and they will hold on to it during pictures in case I need more lipgloss or powder and then they will put it at our sweetheart table for me.  I'm one of those girls that takes a purse everywhere...I feel naked without one.

  • I want to have one (somewhere to put phone, lipgloss, ID, etc.), but MOH will probably be in charge of it most of the time.  And I found a really cute one that I bought off of Etsy (that matches my garter).

I will be wearing contacts so I think carrying a purse may be a good thing to purchase in case I need to rewet my contacts or do a quick makeup fix or chap stick. I think i'm more leaning towards getting a purse than not getting one. I found a cheap one on Ebay that won't break the bank :)

Thank you to all who responded!!!
  • Definitely won't be carrying one. I don't want to worry about where it is all night, so I'll just ask something to carry the few items I may need.

  • I will have one for essentials (ID, credit card, lip gloss, meds, spare tissues), but I won't really be doing much with it.  I'll have it with me for between the ceremony and reception when we're doing pictures, and the moms are going to stash our clutches up at the head table for us before we come in so we'll have them there and for our after party.  I'm not really "carrying" it, just keeping it close by!
