Looking for Crystal Sashes

My sister is my maid of honor. I have 5 girls standing up with me, including her. They all elected to wear the same dress, but I want my sister to stand out as the MOH. I really want to find her a silver crystal sash/belt to tie around her waist and was wondering if any of you knew where I could find an affordable one. I am really trying to stay under 100 dollars. It would be a shame if the sash costs more than the dress!I found some cute ones on ETSY, but they are SUPER expensive. Also, I'm nervous to buy from a site like etsy because of a short window for returns and exchanges, and worry over getting my money back if I do not like the sash, because it is a private seller.  I am not opposed to this as a last minute need, but I wanted to see if you guys had any suggestions first! Thanks for your input!

  • Are you crafty?  Buy a sash in the same color as the dress and sew on some crystals, rhinestones, or whatever you like.  I bet this would be a fraction of the cost and just a couple evenings to put it all together.

  • I think they also have iron-on crystal appliques if you're not big on sewing.  Check out your local craft store.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • I know exactly what you mean! I got a custom sash made here: www.abellie.com, they are a bit more expensive but I am super happy with the quality of my sash. Anyhow, not sure what their return policy is but I did receive an email this week that said they are running a July sale...30% off. Figured I'd share, it might help bring the cost down to something you can afford for your sister!!!

P.s. Love the idea, so sweet :) I'm so close to my sister too so I can truly appreciate this!

  • Thanks so much! I'm not the most crafty person, but my sister is. Maybe she'd consider doing it for her own dress?
  • Thank you!! I am going to look right now. I really appreciate it. My sister and I are only 2 years apart, so we did EVERYTHING together. She means the world to me.
  • Couldn't hurt to ask, especially if you offer to pay for the materials.

  • I actually ordered my Flower Girl Basket/Ring Bearer Pillow from a store on Ebay.. they are due to arrive tomorrow or Friday. The lady makes each of them individually, so it takes a couple of weeks (due to wedding season), but she uses a satin and swarovski crystals.  Once I receive them, I don't mind sharing my feedback (of quality, etc) and can ask if she does custom items such as you are looking for.
  • Thanks Allisen, I would really appreciate it!!
Thanks Chelley, I have looked there, but like I said in my post, the ones I have seen on ETSY are pretty expensive, and I'm worried about returning.
  • Hi - so, my pillow/basket have arrived.  They are done nicely and the crystal work is simple, but she does it by hand.  Do you want me to email her or provide you with the store info?
