What is the ring bearer wearing?  If he is wearing a jacket or blazer (not a tuxedo, which isn't appropriate for children, I don't even know why they make them), then he could have a bout if you want him to, although it's not necessary.  If he's wearing something else - shirt and tie, sweater vest, etc - then no bout which isn't appropriate with anything but a jacket.
