Trunk Shows

Hey girls,
Has anyone ever been to a trunk show? I'm looking into going to a Maggie one, but it would be about a 3 hr drive and I don't have any idea on pricing or what to expect. I'm a very small bride (about 5'0 and 105 lbs)...do they usually bring more than just size 10's and 12's like the salons carry in stock? Also..are we allowed to try anything on at a show? Thanks!

I went to a Maggie trunk show in Las Vegas - I don't know if this is normal, but for this one it basically just meant that the salon had more Maggie styles than usual.  Most of the dresses I tried on were a size 6, but some were bigger / smaller.  They were able to clip the larger sizes on me so that they "fit" better.  Hope that helps!

ETA - my Maggie was in the $800 range.  The salon I went to actually showed prices on their website, this will give you an idea of some of the prices.  http://www.celebrationslvnv.com/sub.php

  • Trunk shows are just when they have a bunch of the designer's dresses (often from the newest collection) and offer a 5% or 10% discount.
  • I've only been to two- a Priscilla of boston and a Lee Ann Belter. they were both at the same bridal shop (2 diff dates).  Basically the trunk show (at least in these cases) was not really a show.  It just means that the shop was carrying the latest designs that aren't out yet.  You can try them on and order them before they are "out".  Its a preview basically.  If you have been looking for a dress and have not found anything you like then I would recommend driving.  Im a BM in a wedding and we found the brides dress in one of the trunk shows and the BM dresses in the other.  But I would probably try looking locally before making a 3 hour drive.  Or seeing if there will be any trunk shows closer to you.

  • Hi Everyone,
rachjim - thanks so much for starting this board!

Does anyone know what the difference is between a sample sale and a trunk show? Are sample sales for sample sizes only (like 4-6ish)? Finally do you know what the best way is to find out where the sample sales are going to take place?

I live in Canada on the east coast but we were thinking of maybe going to the States to shop around. Thanks for the advice!

Congrats to all the fabulour brides and brides to be on the boards!
