BM dresses not picked yet

So I just passed the "6 months out" mark. I let my BM know about 3 weeks ago that I would like them to pick their dress styles, and gave them the designer, color, etc. So far, none of them have picked one (well one has, but only to me, not "officially" claimed it b/c she wants to try it on first). I'm trying to squash my overplanning instincts and not bug them about it, but I read that the dresses should be ordered at about 6 months. I know they all have busy lives, and my wedding is just something else they have to do, but I'm starting to stress about it getting done. My question is, at what point can I ask/remind them to please pick something without being demanding and annoying?

Re: BM dresses not picked yet

  • Are all the girls friends with one another?  You could plan a day together to get dresses, do brunch, etc.  Or, you can do this individually to have special time with each of them which is what I'm doing...but I wouldn't worry about it and I'd give it a little more time.  Only one of my four has jumped on anything and I told them about the same amount of time ago.  Some may be waiting for their tax return, others may be saving up...  Buying a dress isn't cheap so I'd wait.
  • Ok thanks I will let it be for a couple more weeks.

@Retread, 3 out of the four have gone to try on dresses with me, and they all liked the Jordan dresses (and the prices) so that's what I picked. DB is great but they didn't have anything in the color I wanted. Most Jordan dresses are comparable in price, but not all, so they can pick the ones in their budget.

@mlg78, none of them are friends with each other unfortunately. It's my sister, my best friend (who isn't a big fan of my sister), my FSIL and my FI's best girl friend. Also, FSIL lives down south so she's going to go try and order the dress by her.

P.S. I know now that I should have picked BP differently, but I honestly thought this was the "right" way of doing it at the time (women on my side, men on his, my bro and best guy friend are GM). I realize that it's going to take a lot of effort on my part to make sure FSIL and friend neither left out nor bombarded with weding nonsense.
  • you are fine. My wedding is 4 months away and my bridesmaids just ordered their dresses on Sunday and were given a 6-8 week delivery guarantee.  You've done what you can and now the ball is in there court
