Tom's for the wedding?

I love the idea behind Tom's shoes...I've never owned a pair, and I realize they're not the cutest things in the world, but I've been looking for orange flats and I really think that the orange Tom's might be an idea...http://www.toms.com/womens/orange-tharp-women-s-linen-classics

What do you think about such an "un-pretty" (as my MOH tried to put it) shoe for a good cause for the wedding?

IDK. Are you the total go-green person in your group of friends? Will your relatives be super shocked?

If you're not constantly wearing organic cotton, using a reusable water bottle, etc., I think it would be strange. Only because it would be so out of character.

Hey, I think its gross to wear sneakers to a wedding. So Tom's isn't so bad!

Honestly, no one will really see your shoes.  I wore platform flip-flops for our photoshoot to keep my feet comfy and my dress fully off the ground, and they are visible in precisely one shot.

If that is what you want to wear then do it!  Heck, I wore white crocs for my wedding and nobody ever knew unless I showed them.  If people aren't going to see your shoes then who the heck cares what you wear.

Exactly like aerin said, you wont see your shoes in pictures, and even if you do, the rave now is wearing shoes with color in them. I think this is a great idea

go for it, my sister's shoes were hiddeous b/c she waited until the last minute and no one knew except my mom and i and the heals she bought maid the dress show her feet. they were these beige patent (it was around easter) flats with rounded toes....ugly.

I love the idea behind Tom's as well. If you choose to go with a more traditional shoe you could always donate to Tom's in your guests' names in lieu of traditional favors. Then just have a little bookmark or something at each seat explaining what the organization is and that you have donated to them. I think you'll find most people will appreciate that more than a box of M&M's (not that there is anything wrong with that either!)

i love toms. i would go for it. toms have this unique non sneaker yet still a sneaker vibe. i have grey ones and i wear them with everything. they are my go to shoe if i want to wear a skirt or dress, but also intend on doing a lot of walking or need to be comfortable. they're not full on sneaks, but they're comfy.

Go for it!  If you want to wear them then do it - it is YOUR day afterall, not your FMIL's day.  My FMIL can't stand that I'm going barefoot for the ceremony and wearing white flip-flops the rest of the day.  I have my reasons for it so I'm sticking to my guns.  If you want to wear Tom's go for it.  Odds are people aren't going to be studying your feet...and if they are then that's just weird.  Hee hee.
