Long Necklaces for Bridesmaids

So my mom and I are butting heads about how to accessorize my bridesmaids. I'm in love with long necklaces, but she doesn't think they're appropriate for a wedding. Any thoughts!?

First of all, it's your day. Not anyone else's (except your Fiance's of course).
In my opinion, though, I think it could be done nicely or really badly. One thing is that if they're too long they can be a distraction because they'll swing when they walk.  Another thing is that they'll have to match the elegant-ness of the rest of the wedding. Oh and if you do go with it, make sure they don't fidget with them.
But if done right, I think it'd be really cool and pretty unique.  Go with what YOU like.

I went to a wedding where the BMs had on black dresses and long strands of pearls it looked so cool, unless the necklaces are highlighing giant cleavage I cant think of a way they would be innapropriate, they might not be her style, they might not go with the wedding style, heck they could look horrible but still not be inappropriate.

i was thinking the same thing but have never seen it done so i wasn't sure if it was an unwritten rule not to. glad to hear someone else is considering it
i say go for it, if you've got a flair for fashion you'll pick whats perfect for the girls and it'll be unique and add a little you to them too

Agreed. Let them wear what they want. You just worry about your jewelry.

I think it could look really good.  Depends on the dress and the necklace.  Use your judgement and go with your taste.  But if you're requiring your girls to wear all the same the nice thing to do would be to buy it for them (in addtion to thier BP gift).

i agree with the first post about it depending on the dresses. i would say that if you had strapless dresses, i could see long necklaces being really cool...i'm sure there are also a lot of other tasteful combinations too so it's really about what you think looks best on the girls. were you considering giving these necklaces as a gift to your bm's? if so, that is a cool gesture
