Preservation - dry cleaning vs museum style

I already bought the gown preservation kit that David's Bridal sells where you ship off your dress and they send it back dry cleaned and preserved and you can't open the box and break the seal. I thought I was doing the very best thing for my dress and was going to follow all the rules and not open it until 25 years from now when maybe my daughter will want it.

But now I googled "DIY wedding gown preservation" only because my mom asked me to try to save what's left of her dress since she didn't properly preserve it, and I got all this stuff saying that dry cleaning is bad, the chemicals ruin your dress, and having it in a sealed box only traps the bad chemicals and makes it worse! A lot of sites recommend "museum style" preservation where you hand wash it in the tub, stuff it with acid free tissue paper and hang it in a breathable bag, not put it in a box because the folds will turn into permanent creases!

Help! I want to do the very best thing for my dress, but there seems to be conflicting reports on what that is! I sometimes see moms on these boards. I'm hoping I can get some feedback from someone who did the dry cleaning, box thing and can let us know how the dress looks after 20 or 30 years?!

Thanks!
