tux with ivory vest/bowtie

My fiance just bought his tux - it's a black single breasted Ralph Lauren with black satin lapel and black satin trim on the jacket pockets. We both loved an ivory satin vest and ivory satin bowtie with it.
However, now I'm worried about how it will look during the reception. Like most grooms, I think he will wind up taking off his jacket once the first dance is over. Has anyone seen how an ivory vest/tie looks without the jacket? I'm worried it won't look as good w/o the jacket on and I didn't think to check when we were at the store.
So I'm wondering if we should order a black vest as well, for him to change into after the ceremony and pictures....thoughts?

Re: tux with ivory vest/bowtie

  • We just did the same thing.  He got ivory suspenders for under the vest so it all matches.  I think it's going to look great. Don't change a thing and don't stress over it :)
  • Thanks! :)
So is he going to take off the vest and just wear the ivory suspenders and ivory bowtie at reception?
  • I would do black suspenders, personally. But I'm definitely more partial to black bowties with ivory shirts, so there's that :)
  • Yes, he's going to take off his jacket and just wear the ivory suspenders and vest at the reception.  I would not recommend black suspenders because you will be able to see them thru the back of the ivory vest.
