veil with a train... dress without? what do you think?

Hi girls, below is my dress.  It has not train and is very very simple. Our wedding will be in a chapel with the reception at the beach.  So, it'll have a beachy, casual feel.  (If I wear the veil, I'll take it off after the ceremony) My future mother in law would like me to wear her veil... it was her mother's as well and is really a gorgeous heirloom with lace trim.  It's simple and very beautiful, with a long train.  I have nothing against veils and I know it would make fmil very happy.  My only concern is that it'll look weird if I wear a veil with a train, with a dress without one.  Am I being silly?  Should I wear the veil?

  • I think it would look lovely.  It's a great way of having a train and not having to worry about bustling it after the ceremony.

  • I think a long lace veil with a short simple dress is a beautiful look.

  • beautiful.  A great way to have a train for your ceremony, but still be practical for your beach reception.
  • Gorgeous, go for it. I think it'd be lovely, and I love the tradition of it.
  • i think this sounds awesome, I love the look of long veil no train, or long train no veil, sometimes both can be too much this sounds lovely and balenced
  • i was thinking about doing the same thing : ) i like the idea of a train for the ceremony but i don't want to have to bustle it the rest of the night. so i was thinking of have a simple organza dress with no train but have a lace trim veil with train so i still have some train drama for the ceremony.
  • Ring_pop, thanks so much for that photo... it gives me an idea of what it'll look like!  my dress is in the states, and I'm in australia (along with the veil and my fiance), so I won't be able to try them on together until I get home for the wedding a few weeks before.  Thanks for all the reassurance, I think I'll go for it!
  • You're welcome! Pictures really are worth a thousand words, aren't they? Good luck!
