What color tuxes with Navy BM dresses?

Re: What color tuxes with Navy BM dresses?

  • Like CMGr said, tuxes should only be black.

If you like the look of grey better, then have the GMs wear nice grey suits.

  • I think a tuxedo can be whichever color you want them to be. JT and Robert Downey JR have both worn grey tuxedos on the red carpet. Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper, Hugh Laurie, Daniel Craig, Adrien Brody, Chris PIne, Tom Cruise, and Matthew Perry have all worn smashing midnight blue tuxedos on the red carpet. I thiink a charcoal gray looks great.

My husband wore a grey tuxedo for our wedding because that what he wanted to wear. I wasn't involved in deciding the grooms or groomsmen attire and it was a complete surprise to me on our wedding day. They all wore grey tuxedos and it looked very nice.

<div>I 100% disagree with this. If it was 100% up to my groom, he and the other men would be in tails for a wedding that starts at 8 PM. And our wedding is certainly not a tails-y wedding. We made the decision together. </div>

<div>2 things - a)as for color, Midnight blue isn't grey. The reason midnight blue has ALWAYS been an elegant choice for tuxedos is because, under most commercial lighting, black takes on a greenish tint, while midnight looks black, hence its name. That being said, most rental places (and even though I implore grooms and men to buy not rent) don't carry midnight as a rental. So go black. Grey is not a tuxedo color. If you wish for the groomsmen and your fiance to wear grey, get grey suits. Or, if its a summer wedding, go for the white(ivory) shawl collar dinner jacket with black pants.</div><div>
</div><div>b) as for who chooses what to wear, both of you should talk about your ideas for how formal your wedding is going to be and such. After that, go to your seperate corners and pick your duds. Unless he came with you and told you he liked or didn't like your dress, then you dont get a say in what he's wearing past your group clothing conversation.</div>
