I am going off those colors, and I would like the groomsmen to wear dark blue/navy tux.

any help would be great thanks!

Re: Help, DARK BLUE TUX

  • Did you try Men's Warehouse?
  • What does your groom want his groomsmen to wear? Have they indicated they have the budget for that? It's bound to be pricier than a standard tux. Also, tuxes should be black, always. Anything else goes in and out of fashion and could easily look dated.

  • I have to disagree with you artbyallie. I think that if you are thinking a "traditional tux" with a bow tie and possibly tails, then yes, black is the most classic. It also is the most formal. What I've been seeing lately are "tuxes" that look more like a suit. I find these to tone down the formality of the guy's attire. My BM are in short royal blue cocktail dresses and I thought that the black color with the dresses looked funny. It was like the GM were going to one event and the BM were going to another. That's what we picked out for my GM a dark grey suit-looking tux. Literally the only thing that makes it a "tux" rather than a suit is the teeny tiny little bit of satin on the lapel. And at Men's Warehouse the suit/tux I picked out was the same price as the traditional tuxes.
  • Why can't you just have navy blue suits?

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Help, DARK BLUE TUX : I second the navy blue suits. Tuxes should be black. They never have tails. There is not such thing as a 'suit-tux". It is a faddish invention of the wedding industry, and will soon be gone, like the polyester pastel tuxes of the '70s.

Some tuxes still do have tails (trust me...I've been trying to convience my dad that they are out of style but he doesn't believe me...).

Below is the link for the GM attire. Call it what you like (I think it's really a suit, but Men's Warehouse calls it a tux). Point is that you can probably find something similar in navy at a men's formalware shop.

[QUOTE]I've seen it. It think it's a suit, too. Nope, if a "tuxedo" has tails, then it's a tailcoat or a cutaway (morning) coat. Tuxedos do not have tails. Here are some expamples of things that the wedding industry calls tuxedos: http://www.blacktieguide.com/Supplemental/Hall_of_Shame.htm
