Accessories: Do's and Don'ts

I'm curious if anyone out there chose certain accessories for their wedding and wished they hadn't. I went to a wedding where the bride had to keep pushing her veil out of her face during the ceremony and I felt bad for her. (It was unexpectedly windy.) Also, I notice a lot of places offer purses, and I wonder what does the bride do with her purse?? I'm afraid to set my purse down anywhere, even around extended family members.

I would like to hear any and all advice so that I don't feel completely uncomfortable on my wedding day.

Re: Accessories: Do's and Don'ts

  • I went for fresh flowers in my hair instead of a veil.  I have heard of people getting hair flowers that were brown, wilted, or otherwise unusable.  For this reason, I ordered some fake hair flowers just as a back up.

I didn't have any other accesories (like a purse) because it was completely unnecessary for me.  Phone was in my hotel room, ID and one credit card was in my husband coat pocket.
  • I did not have a purse, my DOC had everything I needed for the day. I don't have a US phone since I live in London.

I wore a rhinestone bracelet and I took it off after the church I think, maybe during pictures because it was pulling the dress.  So I would no get a rhinestone bracelets with a prong setting.

I also wore sweat wicking shorts undert my dress b/c it was really hot and humid, but I took them off before the coctail hour.  I wish I left them on for the dancing.  It was hot under there.  I wore them for my 2nd reception in Oct even though it was a much cooler day and I was glad.

There were a few pictures where my BM are holding my veil behind my back.  You can't tell in the picture.  We were married in a church though so it didn't really bother me per say.
  • I don't think a purse is really necessary.  You can have your FI put your ID, and any money for the vendors in his pocket or wallet.  If you have a coordinator, like Duds said, they usually take care of making sure your personal things are where they need to be when you don't need them.
