Thoughts on "flipped" wedding?

My dress would be blush and my bridesmaids would wear white? Any opinion on this? I LOVE this dress http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Ball-Gown-with-Asymmetrically-Draped-Bodice-VW351007_Bridal-Gowns-Shop-By-Designer-White-by-Vera-Wang

  • I think that would look beautiful.  Random side note...Have you tried that dress on in blush or at least seen it in person?  I loved the idea of a blush dress but when I saw that exact dress in person, it was more of a dusty rose color than blush.  It is a beautiful dress though.  So soft, lightweight, and really comfy.  I didn't buy that particular dress but it was going to be "the one" if I didn't end up finding a different dress that I happened to like just a little bit more.

  • Nope I haven't even been shopping yet haha just browsing online, do you think it would come off as a joke because we already crossed that baby-before-marraige line? You know, brides are "pure" that's why it's traditional to wear white?

  • Brides wear white because of Queen Victoria.  Before that, women simply wore their best dress of whatever color.  White was not a common dress color because the gown would ditry easily; only the rich could afford a dress that would only be worn once!

Anyway, I love the idea of the flipped wedding party!
  • I actually really like that idea! Especially with that dress, its beautiful.
  • How do your bridesmaids feel about wearing white? It's a difficult color to wear, and not everyone will look good in the same shade.

  • I think that sounds gorgeous!

I think with the 'maids in ivory it would be lovely!  Not everyone can pull off stark white without looking like a ghost. :)
  • That dress is stunning!

I like the idea although I dont think I would put your bridesmaids in white.

I saw a photo one time of a bride in a purple wedding dress and her bridal party in white/ivory dresses.

It actually looked very beautiful.  Not like a joke at all.  It was classy.

I think your idea sounds great!

  • I've seen where the MOH and MOB wore white and it looked stunning on both of them. I think if the bride is on board for the bridal party and the dresses are chosen correctly it can look great.
  • Love it!

  • a friend of mine had her bridesmaids in white..she was wearing white too and the groom and his groomsmen all wore a white jacket..i was rather skeptical before hand, and they looked fantastic. She did a "rainbow" color scheme so each girl had a bright colored sash and carried gerber daisies, they also all chose their own white dress so they all looked great!
Id definitly recommend it if thats what youd like :)
But please dont do it just because you have a child and therefore think you cant wear white..that has nothing to do with it. FI and I have a son and im wearing a white dress. :) If your wanting a different color just because youd like it though.. go for it!!
  • That dress is pretty!  Love the blush color.  Ivory bridesmaid dresses would compliment it well.
  • I love this idea! I think it will look gorgeous!

OMG thank you. That was word for word what I would write down. Finally someone else who understands!

I just want to add that the traditional colour for virginity is light blue.

  • I think the dress is beautiful!  Wear whatever color you want...just make sure you see it or a sample of the color in person before you pay all this $ and realize you hate the color!  I think it is an awesome idea! Screw other people if they say something...this day is about you and him, keep that in mind!
