BM Dress Opinions Please!

Hi All! I would love to get some opinions on the two dresses my girls like. I'm getting married 6/1/2013, but am trying to get a head start since three of my girlfriends and I are getting within a couple of months of each other. Bella Formals BM1234

and Alfred Angelo 7200:

My dress is a champagne satin with a pinkish undertone to it (private label exc3) so I am trying to stay in the pink/wine family. I love that the Alfred Angelo could  be reused by the girls but it would need some jewelry to dress it up.  The Bella is so unique, but not at all recycle-able. I would love any opinions/thoughts!

Re: BM Dress Opinions Please!

  • Are any of your girls busty?  If they are, the first option might be nice since they would have a shot at finding a bra with straps for a little more support.  I think both are very nice options.  Have you asked each of your BMs what thier budgets are for a dress?  Are these dresses at or under that price?

  • they are both cute. I would double check that they are both in their budgets too.

  • I like the first dress better. I've seen the second one at way too many weddings.

  • I like the 2nd one better. The 1st one looks more like something MOB would wear with a jacket. But I agree with the PP. Big busted girls would do better in dress 1.

  • If the it works with the girls figures I really like No. 2, it feels more sophisticated.
  • Depends on the body types of your girls. I personally like the 2nd one better. Why dont you ask them which one they like better?
  • Number 2 for sure!
  • I like the first.

  • I like #2 better.
  • Ditto PP's on bustiness of girls, budget, etc. I would personally go with #2, and would probably feel more comfortable in it as a BM.

<div>I was afraid of that MOB type look! Something about taffetta dresses tends to give me that feeling...perhaps because so many MOB dresses are in taffeta. Oh well. At least it's not just me!</div><div>
</div><div>On the other hand, I don't like that the 7200 is a "been there done that" kind of dress....</div><div>
    </div><div>
</div><div>Thank you all for your input, I really appreciate you taking the time to reply. Since the wedding is in summer, I think I'm back to the drawing board with a narrowed down search to just short or tea length satin dresses :)</div><div>

  • First dress is matronly to me, I would say go with it if your girls are in their mid-30's or older; It would also work great for a bustier girl who would like to wear a comfortable bra.

The second dress would be much better suited for a younger bridal party.

  • As a full-chested girl myself, I disagree with the comments that Dress 1 would be easier to wear, because that low V-neck would reveal A LOT of cleavage (though the angle of the photo may make it appear lower than it actually is).  That's something I personally am not comfortable with, didn't want to have showing for myself or my BMs for my church ceremony, and is one of my wedding pet peeves.

I also understand you lconsidering dresses this early due to the hectic nature of multiple weddings close together, but ordering soon is assuming everyone stays about the same size for a year, which I doubt is likely.

Nickie - I planned on putting them on a strict diet and exercise plan for the next year <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-wink.gif" border="0" alt="Wink" title="Wink" /> lol just kidding!!! The last thing I want is for anyone to feel uncomfortable in any way, either wearing something that doesn't fit well or is too showy, etc. Thanks a bunch for all the responses....as someone not busty, it's easy not to look at things that way. I do have one girl who is curvy on top and I doubt she'd appreciate having the girls on public display.
