DRESS DILEMMA FIRST TIME OLDER BRIDE LATE 40'S

I am a first time older bride and having a hard time deciding what to wear. Went to a high end bridal shop and was too over the top, too much bling. Wedding is along the shoreling in CT in the fall. I was thinking of tea length but no one local seems to have any. Any suggestions would be a great help.

I would probably post this on the local boards, the ladies there may be able to steer you to the right place.

Have you done any research to see what styles you like? I would do that and than call some local places to see if they carry them.

As a 43 year old bride I can say I went for the bling and loved it. Good Luck.

I sell wedding gowns that go from very fancy to not so. Let me know if I can be of any help to you. I would need your size and color preference.  Remember you don't always have to wear a bridal gown. Any nice formal dress could work.  Hope to hear from you soon.

I just did a post in Retro and Vintage on Tea Length. I swear, looking around at the women who wore those for their real weddings, I was certain I made the right choice for my...er...vintage body and my shape.

I love my tea length dress, it's totally right for me.

PP have some great suggestions. Nicole Miller also makes quite a few white evening gowns and destination-type wedding dresses.

If you love a dress, couldnt you just get it altered to be tea length?

Ditto LaceyCharles..........I bought a destination style dress during a local bridal salon's sample sale. I'm going in for my fitting next week and having them cut the front in a tealength-tulip style opening, and the back will be heel length.

FWIW, it's my first wedding, and I'll be 56 on my wedding day. You don't need to apologize for your age OR what you decide you want to wear.
