Undergarments

When I tried on my dress at David's Bridal they supplied the corset bra and bridal slip. They put me in a 36 D corset bra. I am a 34 B regular. She said she was going with the D for the waist. Admittedly I don't know much about various bra sizes. I thought the letters were more about cup size and the numbers were for waste. The 36 D was good around my waste. It did cinch me in. However the cups were WAY to big. I left with my dress and my bridal slip but I didn't purchase the corset bra from them because I was unsure as to what size to get. I was thinking 36 but go with a B cup. Anyone have advice? I live in a small town and don't have a lingerie shop in my town. I wanted to get the proper bra prior to getting my dress altered.

Re: Undergarments

  • Have you done measurements yourself?  For something like this, I think a trip to a store to get measured appropriately is beneficial.
  • I was measured for a regular bra. Not sure if that makes a difference or not. They put me at 34 B. The woman at Davids Bridal was saying its good to go up in size for the corsets because they go around the waste. Makes sense but I think she was confused
  • Thanks. I have a mom pouch so I wasn't sure if that was why they had me go up in size or not.
  • You definitely need to get something to suit your cup size.  A D is not going to work if you are actually a B cup.  You should be able to find a long line bra in the appropriate size.  If you don't have any lingerie shops near you, try a department store.  they usually have long line bras in various sizes.  You might find that you prefer the 36B to the 34B since it's shaped differently and goes to your waist.  Definitely try it on before purchasing.
  • I agree -- get fitted at an actual lingerie store, not DB.  Undergarments are important, and you want to feel both comfortable and well-supported.
