Bridesmaids dresses, shoes and bouquets

What do people think of light blue pool if you go to davids bridal and the coral reef shoes? And my flowers are pinks, oranges and salmon as close to coral as you can get. I'm starting to second guess myself and get nervous :/

Re: Bridesmaids dresses, shoes and bouquets

  • Why on Earth would you match those two together?  The shoes should complement the dress, not be a complete opposite!  I'm sorry to say it, but your bridesmaids will gag at the thought of wearing those two together and I'd be quite embarassed if I were them.  Why not do the blue dresses with silver shoes (something they may already have in their closet!) and then have your flowers bring in the other colors?
  • While you're definitely not the first bride to put those two DB colors together, it's certainly a bold look.

I do think the color combination is a bit costume-y.

I would strongly encourage you to have the bridesmaids wear a shoe of their choosing in a neutral color (gold, nude, silver).
  • I agree with it looking costume-y and immature.

Also, if you're requiring those shoes, it is your obligation, not your BP to buy them. They are not a gift, they are for your wedding and photo op. I'd skip it, let them wear something neutral.
  • The only time that I like the look of a colored shoe is if it is being paired with a neutral colored dress such as black, grey or tan.

If you decide to go with the blue dress, scrap the colored shoes and have your BP wear either a nude or silver shoe of their own choosing.  Let your other accent color pop with the bouquet.

I agree with PP's, I like the contrast of those colors. But do it with the flowers, not the shoes. Have them wear silver or nude shoes and the flowers will stand out.

My bridesmaids held coral bouquets against peacock blue dresses and it looked great, so with the shade of blue you chose, it will also look very nice. We used Free Spirit and Ambiance Roses. It was very pretty.

No matter how pretty the dress, I would not be a happy bridesmaid if I had to wear coral shoes.
